  Current Projects:
Sedge meadows are dominated by Carex stricta, a plant whose unique growth form gives rise to its common name, tussock sedge, and the characteristic bumpy topography of sedge meadows. I am studying how the small scale heterogeneity created by C. stricta influences species richness and plant distribution within sedge meadows by increasing surface area and creating micro-habitats.

I also set up an experiment to test the usefulness of incorporating artificial bumps into sedge meadow restoration as a technique to increase species richness and facilitate establishment of native species.
