1. Phylogenetic Systematics We are conducting molecular and morphological systematics on a variety of angiosperm groups. Some of these projects have been in collaboration with Tom Givnish and Paul Berry (now at University of Michigan) within the Botany Department. Further information is available at individual project pages.
2. Historical Biogeography The lab is active in calibrating molecular phylogenies with fossil evidence to better understand issues relating to the vicariance and dispersal history in plant groups with interesting and puzzling biogeographical distribution patterns.
3. Adaptive Radiations on Islands The link between radiations (systematics) and adaptations (ecology) is being examined in collaboration with Tom Givnish on model systems from oceanic islands and South American tepui "islands in the sky"
