Modern systematists analyze relationships among plant groups using a wide range of approaches, including comparative morphology, cytotaxonomy, and molecular systematics. Analytical techniques include cladistics, biosystematics, and numerical taxonomy. The Herbarium houses outstanding collections of Arctic lichens, parasitic fungi, and the angiosperm families Capparidaceae, Lecythidaceae, Solanaceae and Poaceae. Field studies on the systematics, ecology, and evolution of tropical groups, particularly in the New World, are strongly encouraged. Members of this section are:
