Mentorships

Mentorship holds an important place in a public research institution and benefits students and mentors alike. The Spalding lab fosters Mentor/Mentee relationships by taking part in the Madison Middle School Science Symposium, an annual event designed to give Middle School Students the experience of developing and presenting a longer term research project.

In addition to participation in the Science Symposium, Spalding Lab members also participate as online mentors for Planting Science, an organization that matches students with scientists for online mentorships.
