Overview of the PIC
The core instrumentation in the PIC is the FEI Quanta environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) and the Zeiss 510 Meta confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). In addition, the PIC houses a high pressure freezer (HPF) for preparation of TEM or SEM samples. We have an Olympus epifluorescence microscope with a color camera and a filter wheel, along with an Olympus dissecting stereo microscope that has an attached high resolution color camera. The PIC also has a paraffin embedding and sectioning room, a fume hood, a sample prep room, and freezer/refrigerator space.

A Botany postdoc examines Arabidopsis embryos using the dissecting microscope in the PIC.
