Overview of the NIC

The core instrumentation in the NIC is the Zeiss confocal LSM780/Elyra Super-resolution microscope (Elyra), FEI Quanta environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) and the Zeiss 510 Meta confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). We have an Olympus epifluorescence microscope with a high resolution color camera, along with an Olympus dissecting stereo microscope that has an attached color camera. Additionally the Zeiss AxioZoom dissecting microscope is available for fluorescence screening or data collection with a monochrome camera. The NIC also has paraffin embedding and sectioning equipment, a fume hood, and freezer/refrigerator space.
