UW Botany was represented for the first time at 'Orchid Quest 2013' at the Alliant Energy Center on February 2nd and 3rd. The Madison Orchid Research Group, headed by Professor Ken Cameron, contributed a 50 sq ft exhibit on orchid evolution, which ran away with prizes!:

purple ribbon, best in class, amateur
blue ribbon, first place, education
red ribbon, second place, Epidendrum species/hybrid
white ribbon, third place, Maxillaria species/hybrid

Thanks to Rafael, Brian, Giovanny, Alfonso, James, Matthew, & Stephanie for helping to stage the display, and to Mo, Kara, Jim, and Sarah F. for growing the plants and helping put this together. Thousands passed through the exhibit hall this weekend, and we can be proud to know that UW-Botany was so well represented. Congratulations!
