Plant community ecology, historical landscape ecology of seasonal forests, old-growth forests, ecology of Sequoia sempervirens communities, conservation.
Current Projects
1) Characterization of old-growth Sequoia sempervirens stands in Mendocino County, California. 2) High-resolution reconstruction of vegetation communities and fire regimes using modern forest surveys as well as fossil pollen, rates of carbon accumulation, and charcoal data from old-growth and disturbed forest landscapes.
