Research Interests: Origin and early evolution of land plants, biology of algae and bryophytes, aquatic molecular microbial biology, bioremediation and biofuels applications of algae.
Hobbies: Skin/scuba diving, preferably in warm marine waters; reading mystery and action/adventure books as a break from scientific literature, playing with Spore Creature Creator.
Current Projects: Studying the physiological responses of some bryophytes that model earliest land plants, comparing degraded bryophytes and charophycean algae to enigmatic fossils, and cultivating algae for extraction of materials used in producing biofuels.
