Note: Cup plant is suitable as a backdrop for other perennials or in open woodlands near ponds and streams. The opposite leaves on the upper and middle parts of its squared stem do not have petioles, and are united at the base which enclose the stem and form a cup. Flowers of this plant attract butterflies and birds. Prefers sunny, moist, ordinary garden soil.
