Note: This stemless, rhizomatous plant is suitable for
wildflower, woodland, herb, and rock gardens. The common name "Bloodroot"
is in reference to its red sap, which was used for dyes by Native Americans.
This plant has medicinal properties, but is poisonous if ingested. Bloodroot
looses its foliage in mid-Summer. Prefers partly shady to shady, moist,
well-drained, organic-rich soil.
