before the leaves. 'Britzensis' (also known as 'Chermesina')
- has a brilliant orange-red winter stem (yellowish in warmer climates).
Cutting back Coral Bark Willow to a stump (stooling) every spring will
force the tree to produce vigorous young shoots with strong color. Monitor
plant for galls, rust, blights, leaf spots, powdery mildew, scale, borers
and caterpillars. Prefers sunny to partly shady, well-drained, sandy, ordinary
garden soil.
