Note: These plants are suitable as cut flower gardens,
in meadows, perennial borders and cottage gardens. Black-Eyed Susan can
tolerate drought, heat and a variety of soil conditions. Pinch the spent
flowers of this clump-forming rhizomatous plant in order to enhance, and
prolong flowering. Monitor for slugs, snails and powdery mildew. Black-Eyed
Susan can self-seed, and often becomes invasive. Prefers sunny, moderately
dry, well-drained, ordinary garden soil.
