Note: This rhizomatous plant has ornamental umbrella-like leaves and is suitable for woodland gardens.. Its flowers and fruits are showy, and hidden by the leaves. These fruits are edible, and may be used in jams or jellies. Also, the fruits turn from green to golden color as mature. Mayapple goes dormant during the Summer months. Prefers partly shady to shady, moist, well-drained, organic-rich soil.
