Note: This deciduous shrub is suitable as a specimen, in borders and hedges, or as an accent. There are many cultivars of single or double flowers and colors derived from this species. Spent flowers should be removed after blooming. It takes a few years for Tree Peony to establish, and proves very difficult to transplant. Monitor plant for stem wilt, leaf blight, canker, and scales. Prefers sunny to partly shady, moderately dry, well-drained, rich loamy soil.
