Note: Sweet Gum is suitable as a shade or street tree. It's foliage turns from yellow to burgundy in the Fall. This plant is the source of American Styrax. It takes two years for the seeds to germinate. Monitor plant for Japanese beetles, and insect galls. Prefers sunny, moderately dry, well-drained, ordinary garden soil.
