Note: This upright, rhizomatous, clump-forming plant is suitable for perennial borders, cut flower gardens or as a specimen. The common name "Red Hot Poker" is in reference to it's torch-shaped flower spike. Another common name is Torch Lily. this plant benefits from being left undisturbed. Spent flowers should be removed. Monitor plant for root rot, especially in poorly drained soils. Prefers sunny, moderately dry, well-drained, ordinary garden soil.
