Note: This plant is suitable for shaded areas of mass planting, mixed shrub borders, and woodlands. This species should be cut back 6 inches to the ground in late Fall. The roots have medicinal values. Monitor plant for aphids, whiteflies, scales, nematodes, bacterial wilt, leaf spot, rust, bud blight, and powdery mildew. Prefers sunny to partly shady, moist, well-drained, organic-rich soil.
