Note: This plant is suitable for natural areas, or woodland and native plant gardens. Its fruits are edible and can be used in jam, ice creams, jellies, pies and syrups. Leaves may be browed and used as tea. The wood is being used in billiard cues and golf club heads. Monitor plant for leaf spots and remove root suckers as they appear. Prefers sunny to partly shady, moderately dry, well-drained, ordinary garden soil.
