Fruit and Seed Features: Dicotyledon. Fruits are capsule, berry, drupe or achene. Vegetative Features: Habit as shrubs, trees, lianas or herbs. Leaves opposite, simple to pinnately divided or compound. Leaves have entire or serrate margin. Stipules are lacking.

Distribution: Wide distribution, especially in northern temperate regions.

Economic Use: As cultivated garden ornamentals. Teasel (Dipsacus) being used in cloth industry.
