Fruit and Seed Features: Monocotyledon. Fruit a follicle. Vegetative Features: Habit as fresh water rhizomatous perennial herbs. Leaves mostly submersed, floating or occasionally emersed. Leaves mostly with reticulated vein.

Distribution: Old world tropical, subtropical and South Africa.

Economic Use: As a cultivated pond or aquarium plants.
