Note: This deciduous tree is suitable for parks, large lawn areas or as a street tree. This plant has spectacular autumn foliage color. Sugar Maple is the commercial source of syrup, maple sugar and maple wood. It is also intolerant of soil compaction, salt and pollution. Monitor plant for verticillium wilt and leaf scorch. Prefers sunny to partly shady, moderately dry, well drained, slightly acidic, regular garden soil.
