Cryptomonads

Cryptomonads may not have previously been encountered by many students, but they
will soon gain an appreciation for the importance of these flagellates as food for
zooplankton and their pivotal role in shaping our understanding of endosymbiosis.
Comparison with euglenoids is a useful way to help students learn to distinguish
these two groups of flagellates, which often occur together.
