Haptophytes

Whilte this is yet another group of flagellates with which most students will be
unfamiliar, it is one that is becoming increasingly important in ocean bloom
formation and the production of toxins. Entrancingly complex coccolith diversity
may stimulate students to survey chalk deposits and samples of ocean waters and
sediments with the use of SEM.
