A course in the theory and practice of phylogenetic inference from DNA sequence data. The course aims to give graduate students and undergraduates engaged in research the hands-on skills needed to analyze and critical interpret their data.

PREREQUISITES: A course in genetics/evolution/systematics and a course in statistics/probability, or consent of the instructor. Comfort with computers and prior exposure to phylogenetic trees is highly recommended.

Lecture will be informal and will involve active learning.  Discussions will focus on good empirical papers that illustrate the analytical methods we will cover.
