Habitat:  Growing in mucky depressions on open bog mat. For the most part this is the only plant growing in these mucky depressions. Some nearby depressions have as plant associates Menyanthes trifoliata, Utricularia sp., and Carex spp., Nearby hummocks support Drosera rotundifolia, Triglochin maritima, Calopogon tuberosus, Pogonia ophioglossoides, Vaccinium sp., and Sarracenia purpurea.
