Habitat:  Original upland prairie sod on toe of a W- by SW-facing slope; soil dry-mesic, derived from sandstone overlain by fractured dolomite. Assoc.: Amorpha canescens, Dalea purpurea, Solidago canadensis, Sporobolus heterolepis, and Schizachyrium scoparium.
 
Text:  Two plants. Site likely grazed 60 years ago, had become overgrown with trees and brush, cleared 8 years ago by TPE volunteers and burned periodically since.
