Habitat:  Moderately wooded, S-facing hillside; soil of medium depth with a base of broken chert and other limestone and quartz rock. Assoc.: Agastache, Asclepias exaltata, Desmodium, Elymus hystrix, Eupatorium, and Rubus (abundant). One of the hillside groups displays 4-leaved whorls as in A. quadrifolia but is otherwise indistinguishable from A. purpurascens.
 
Text:  Three patches totaling ca. 12 stems on this hillside plus a few stems in the adjacent open grassland. Site thinned for oak wilt remediation 5 years ago, burned 3 of the last 6 years. Photos taken at various times in 2009 by K. J. Symon. [Sheet 2 of 2]
