Habitat:  In 1.0--1.8 meters of water on a bottom varying from firm to soft muck or a couple of inches of muck over sand, among sparse vegetation consisting of "wild rice" (Zizania, probably Z. palustris), coontail (Ceratophyllum demersum), Sparganium eurycarpum, Potamogeton natans, P. richardsonii, Megalodonta beckii, and from place to place with either Nuphar variegata or Nymphaea odorata.
