Habitat:  Damp grassy lowland (old field) along east edge of Fraxinus pennsylvanica-F. nigra woodland. Immediate associates (within 1 ft. radius): Agrostis gigantea, Bromus ciliatus, Carex sect. Ovales, C. vulpinoidea, Fraxinus pennsylvanica seedlings, Juncus dudleyi, Phalaris arundinacea-dominant, Sphenopholis intermedia, and Solidago gigantea.
 
Text:  Collected plant with 7 lvs and 12 flrs.; sep whitish-green; pet white; pollinia medium-yellow. Generally rare and local, but here a naturally occurring, large population is in the process of development.
