Habitat:  Upper edge of little creek-bottom wetland hemmed in between a wooded hillside and cultivated corn field; dense, rank, treeless vegetation; Wabash silt loam (alluvial soil). Assoc.: Apios americana, Helianthus giganteus, Rudbeckia laciniata, Silphium perfoliatum, Stachys tenuifolia (S. hispida s.s.), Urtica dioica ssp. Gracilis
 
Text:  Twelve plants in a patch 1 m X 1 m sq.; stems 6'3" - 6' 7" tall; collected plant with 460 heads; cor. pale yellow. Plants first noticed 1998, when 3 were found at 2 spots in this wetland. None flowered during 1999-2002. 2 bloomed in 2003, producing 192 & 317 heads, flrg starting 22 Aug, peaking 1 Sep, finishing 15 Sep. Most heads with mature fruits on 8 Oct. Sheet 3 of 3.
