Habitat:  Wet-mesic prairie, much of the flora composed of fen spp.; grass sod, Sorghastrum nutans dominant, Schizachyrium scoparium subdominant, w/ Andropogon gerardii & sod-like patches of low-stature Calamagrostis canadensis; immediate assoc. for 13970: Fragaria virginiana, Geum aleppicum, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Lobelia spicata, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Asclepias hirtella, A. incarnata, A. syriaca, Salix bebbiana, S. petiolaris.
 
Text:  Wis. DNR Habitat Preservation Area, recovering agricultural land that has been in public ownership for ca. 50 years, grazed before then, burned this spring for the first time in many decades. Very open colony (clone?) of c. 50 stems in area 18 m by 12 m.
