Habitat:  Dry mesic prairie with Aster laevis, Aster sericeus, Solidago rigida, Andropogon scoparius, Sorghastrum nutans, Liatris aspera, L. cylindracea, Bouteloua curtipendula.
 
Text:  BER1978. Same prairie as No. 97, but this root system came from a plant with 3 flower stalks that were 4 or more inches shorter than that of plant #97. 2 of abrupt ends of thick tap roots have callus tissue there forming a stub
