Habitat:  Dry open xeric prairie 1/3 way down N-facing slope on very sandy hill. Soil is dry and sandy (some loam present lower down slope. It is appar. holding its own, occupying a small area of ca. 3.5 x 1.5m. Of 15 plants counted, only 5 were forming fruits.. Most were small & w/out flowers, smallest only 3cm tall. Growing up against clumps of dom. grass, Andropogon scoparius. Aspect dom. Aster sericeus, Solodago nemoralis. On ground between grass clumps are Cladonia cristalella, C. chlorophaea, (P+ strain),
